Why Minecraft on Wii U needs to happen.

Will this happen for reals?

So why would we want another port of Minecraft?  It's on Pc, 360, even my phone (well not MY phone), so why would this be a good idea?

Microsoft has a lot of Xbox related skins, from Master Chief to Fable to Marcus Fenix.  Nintendo could do this, which is an obvious step, but what if they went further?

I'm proposing having the creation mode, survival mode and a new mode... Let's call it Quest Mode.  So, let's start at the beginning of the game.  For new comers it'll ask if you want a tutorial mode, which will show you the ropes.  All of your crafting menus can be on the Wii U Pad, which is something I love in Wind Waker HD.  If you choose no, then it'll tell you to build a mailbox and bed & survive the night.  Mailbox, you ask?  Yes, this will become clear in a moment.  After you build your bed in a safe place, you'll be prompted to sleep as soon as it is night.  Once you do, your mailbox will have a letter in it.  The letter tells you have been summoned to... Princess Peach's castle in The Mushroom Kingdom!

At this point a waypoint pops up on a blank spot on your map.  Hopefully the map can be displayed on your pad in this mode (or all modes?). The part of the world you spawn in can be called 'The Wilderness' and this generates randomly like in a normal game.  Once you cross over into a new section like The Mushroom Kingdom, it's still somewhat randomly generated, but it acts like a town with npc Mario characters and species. The castle is always part of the town and is constructed basically the same. Outside the walls of the city, goombas and koopa troopas lurk in the forests and fields.  Maybe even in the daytime, but not as numerous.

You meet The Princess, who says that Mario went to retrieve one of the magic scepters (or something) and never returned.  You must journey to Dark Land/Bowser's Kingdom to find Mario and maybe Luigi.   Possibly entrance to the either castle requires you to craft an item.  A gift for Peach perhaps made from gold or lapis zuli (maybe something specific to the Nintendo version).  The missions need to incorporate the mining and crafting (duh) mechanics into the missions while keeping in mind much of the world is randomized.

But The Mushroom kingdom would only be the beginning.  After the mission to Bowser's Castle, your mailbox (which can be anywhere, numerous and all have the same messages inside) has an invitation to Hyrule to honor the Hero of Time... You get the idea.

The missions could eventually lead to the creation of a new type of portal that leads to a space station that has Samus, Fox, Kirby, Captain Falcon and Rosalina.  Each has their own portal to a new world set that reflects their franchise.  The original portal would need to have materials mined or perhaps a mission for an item that would replace the flint, which would create a portal to somewhere other than The Nether.

Pokemon would be a must for one of the default world's sections.  Maybe include a solid 25 or so Pokemon and give the player the ability to use food (poke puffs maybe?) to tame say, a wild Pikachu? This would act in the same way as taming wolves or ocelots in the normal game, except if a zombie (or a Moblin?) messes with you, it gets Pika-electrocuted!  This could extend to other Pokemon as well.

Obviously the art style would be like the original Minecraft.  Seeing Nintendo characters in the blocky, 8-bit-esque style of Minecraft would be fitting.  Would they make Mario and Co. look more like their NES incarnations or Blocky versions of their current designs?  Not to mention, instead of having just skin packs (which would undoubtedly make an appearance), but having like 20 or so skins that are unlocked in the missions.  A Mario/Luigi outfits for the Mushroom Kingdom missions, Link for LOZ, etc.

The Wii U is doing a little better since the price drop and Wind Waker bundle (not to mention the other announced bundles).  This may help draw more people to the console, not to mention that Nintendo fans would gravitate to the old school feel and visuals of Minecraft.

This would be a great idea to follow through on and it would be better than a straight port.  XBone will have a bigger version, but will it be measurably better?  The Nintendo Quest mode, if it came into reality, would warrant a purchase out of me, rather than just a straight port.

Nintendo is looking to get the game on their newest console, but this shouldn't be a straight port in my opinion. If it were too late and a straight port is in motion, then maybe the Quest Mode in this article could be paid DLC.  I doubt it would be enough to turn things around for the Wii U by itself, but it would be an important cog in the machine.
