So this isn't a formal return to the blog, but I'll be putting some stuff up from time to time. I may put up a review of Mario Kart 8 next week and maybe, just maybe starting a podcast, so stay tuned.
With E3 right around the corner, I'm super excited. I was sort of looking forward to last years', but this year should be something special. The shock of not having a full on stage show is gone and we know that there are specific things to look forward to, where last year was kind of a guessing game. I'll go through the array of things we know will happen, may or probably won't happen (but would be awesome!).
Things that will happen:
The Legend of Zelda HD: We've known from Nintendo that this is a sure thing for E3 2014. Hopefully we'll see gameplay and not just a cg trailer. I can almost guarantee that we'll see gameplay. We'll know the art style and the gist of how open the world will be. Given Link Between Worlds old yet new open exploration style, I'm hoping for something less linear and therefore more alive. Also the art style from the HD demo in 2012 will hopefully be similar to this game. As much as I love Wind Waker, Nintendo can't afford the backlash from a simplified/cartoon art style.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS: Aside from making the film 'The Wizard' into a real life thing with the Smash 4 tourney, which might be the coolest thing at E3... aside from that, we should find out the full roster. There is the super rumor of Pac-Man being included in the game. With the 3DS version coming out in the summer, the full roster reveal is almost 100% certain. The Gamecube controller revelation
...there should be a lot more info about this. I think an official statement on the new version of the controller will be part of the presentation.

X: If X is coming out this year, we should get more info (like a full name). We saw more gameplay a couple of months ago, so what we see next week should be more story based.
Bayonetta 2: Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive who's predecessor wasn't on any Nintendo system. I played it on 360, but it's safe to say that there are a decent amount of Wii U owners that haven't played it. Maybe an announcement of at least a digital version of Bayonetta 1? Maybe a special edition with a version of the first game? We'll most likely see a date for release here. I'd also like to see more on the touch screen mode.
Yarn Yoshi: We've seen so little of this Wii U game, so I'm looking forward to seeing this first home console Yoshi game since the N64. I know there is a hunk of the fan see that is hoping to see a more challenging iteration of the game series.
Fatal Frame: I'm not sure if this a Japan only thing, but the thought of using the game pad as a camera to snap pics of ghosts is awesome. I've not seen a lot of this series, so I may check out more info about the previous entries. I know Zombi U was underrated and unique, but the pad integration is what made that game (as well as that difficulty, in a good way). This game could achieve something similar.
NFP (Nintendo Figure Platform): So according to a few sources on the internet, the new figures that interact with the pad will be included in Smash 4, but what function they serve is a big question mark. Not to mention what new games will the figures work with. I could do an entire post about this, but for now I'll leave it at that.
Things we might see:
Mario Kart 8 DLC: Fuck. Yes. I love this game, as you'll see in my review next week and maybe in the podcast if I can get everything together (and if E3 talk doesn't consume the entire episode). I would love to see new tracks and an actual battle mode. The only character I would be excited about seeing would be Nabbit, but I know Diddy Kong and Dry Bones would get love if they were released as well.
New Starfox or F-Zero: I know it has been a while since either of these series have had an entry. The reasoning according to some sources is that since the Wii's power was basically a bit more than a GCX, there wasn't anything to be added by another game. So since everyone would love a HD F-Zero or Starfox (maybe).
New Metroid: This is a lot more likely, but since the lackluster reception for Other M, Nintendo had kind of ignored Samus a little (excluding Smash and the Tomogachi Life preview). I think this is likely, despite what most on the internets are saying. I personally would like a Metroid Prime (Trilogy?) in HD at the very least. The gamepad would work wonderfully with a HD remake or a brand new Metroid game. There is also a possibility of a 2.5D game on 3DS.
Majora's Mask 3DS remake: I never played this game, but the 3DS version of Ocarina got me to finally finish the game, so I'm likely to get this if it's a real thing.
New Mario RPG of some sort: More than likely a Super Paper Mario 2 or Paper Mario Wii U of some sort.
Mario 64 or Sunshine HD: With Wind Waker HD being awesome, these two games are a no brainer. Given the Gamecube controller is being rereleased, having Mario Sunshine HD compatible with said controller would be a win win for everyone.
Wii U redesign: Rumors of hardware being shown is either a new 3DS special edition or a Wii U with a smaller pad of some sort and a new price point.
Things you probably won't see (but would be awesome!!)
Full on Pokemon game for Wii U: This could sell a mountain of consoles. The miiverse and internet connectivity would make this a unique and fun experience.
Super Mario RPG 2: Return of the Seven Stars: This is incredibly unlikely, but holy shit, my wife's favorite 2 games are Yoshi's Island and Super Mario RPG, her head would explode. I would be hyped if this was announced with a more realistic art style.
No More Heroes 3: I love the first two games. I'm not sure what Suda 51 is working on, I haven't seen a peep on this possibility. Okami HD port would be nice too.
Mario Galaxy 3: With Super Mario 3D World out last year, I don't see an announcement on a new single player Mario game until next year.
Geist 2: It could happen... never mind.
Well I'm looking forward to this year's E3 and I'll have either a post about my favorite moments (on all systems) or if the podcast is off the ground by then, I'll talk about all of that jazz during the weekend. Laters.
