Things that should be in the next Mario Kart 8 update.

So Mario Kart 8 has been out for a while now.  We have the Mercedes DLC coming to the US as well as rumors of more to come.  Everyone wants battle arenas or Dry Bones to become DLC, but there are things that can be improved with an update.  As much as I love the game, as I conveyed in my REVIEW, there is still room for improvement.

1. Locking my Gamepad settings: I use tilt controls with the Gamepad.  I know I'm in the minority.  Every time I boot the game up, I have to tap the tilt control symbol and the map.  Sometimes I forget and run into a wall... Damn!  The settings from my previous game should stick, like when I adjust my controls in Halo.

2. Horizontal 2-Player Split Screen Option: This is no option for 2-player split screen other than vertical.  Since a lot of games on other systems (cough-XboxOne-cough) are basically doing away with couch co-op, it's hard to complain about any local multiplayer options... but I really don't like the vertical split screen, nor do any of my friends.  If vertical is your poison... fine, but there should be an option to switch it.  The Gamepad would make this change instant.  The other option is having the second player on the pad... hint hint.  That leads into the next update that should be implemented.

3. Center the screen while on tilt controls: This is something the 3DS does all of the time, but when I use offscreen play with tilt controls, the screen doesn't adjust.  Mario and Luigi: Dream Team does this, and that's a RPG!  I would be ecstatic if this were updated.

4. Changing the skins of the vehicles voluntarily: So some vehicles have different color schemes based on the characters you choose.  For instance, The Bit Bug:

Pretty Colors!
Now you can only use certain colors with certain characters.  There should be an option to cycle through the colors, even as an unlockable that pops up in an update.  I want to use the black sneaker with Lakitu or Lemmy, make it happen!

5. More Video Editing Options: This is a recent problem I ran into.  I can't show it to you at the moment, but there was an epic moment in one of my races and I could not get the options to let me see it in a 30 to 60 second clip, which is the only way to upload it to YouTube.  So now it sits in my favorites until I get some screen capturing software.  Allow me to either have more control over my 60 second clips or allow me to upload the whole race.  I don't mind the wait.

That's all I can think of for now.  I may do a part 2 if anything else comes to mind.  Later.
