Deadpool Family (One Shot)
I’ve been reading a lot of Deadpool lately, mostly the Corps and the main title, but I mulled over the comics that weren’t in my file I pick up at Coolector’s Mall’s (now Big Bang) front counter. I saw this Deadpool (Corps I guess) one shot and I had to check it out.
This comic has several short stories compounded together. One is about Lady Deadpool (who is mysteriously disfigured again) and Headpool (the zombie head from another dimension, in case you were thinking it was the porn star version of Wade Wilson) having relationship problems…? One is about Kidpool and Dogpool stealing a giant robot from the government to impress some other kids, which is hilarious by the way. One is a typical Deadpool merc story, but a bit more serious than I’m used to (the art in this section is excellent by the way).
This is more of less worth the pick up. I’m more into ongoing continuous stories rather than short ones, but check it out if you’re itching for more of your favorite mercs with some mouths.

Brightest Day #23
Geoff Johns’ follow up series to Blackest Night has been progressively getting better. I’m not familiar with a lot of the characters (I don’t follow Aquaman or Hawkman/girl and some of the others), but I know the jist of the characters in most of the DCU, so I’m not entirely lost.
This issue tied up a lot of ends from previous issues, like for the white ring representing life, why the hell is it getting a lot of people killed (or actively killing them in some cases). Well the answer to turn them into elemental beings (fire, water, wind earth… all they need is heart and Captain Planet might save the DCU). This isn’t that much of a spoiler if you look at the cover.
!!SPOILERS!!
So the white lantern ring turned these heroes into elemental beings to fight a Death Avatar. I hope I’m not the only one who’s a little lost, but the entities across the emotional spectrum are the embodiments of their respective lantern corps, but is this avatar that equivalent in this case? The Black Hand, who is a person, is supposed to be the entity for the black lantern corp, so what the hell is this giant black skull faced thing? Also Swamp Thing shows up at the end, no joke, freaking Swamp Thing!! Hells yeah.
SPOILERS END
This is absolutely worth getting. I’d suggest reading everything before, or you’ll be a bit lost, but eh, if you’re into comics you might have guessed that.
