So there's the link to the video above^^^
About I think 8 months ago a video called Mortal Kombat Rebirth came out. A lot of people were confused about what it was. Was it a live action ad for Mortal Kombat (2011)? Was it a preview to a new movie? Well it turned out to be a test film for a rated R MK film that Kevin Tancharoen was trying to get WB to make.
Well luck would have it that the short film sparked their interest and the Mortal Kombat Legacy webseries was born. This episodie stars Jeri Ryan (Star Trek Voyager's Seven of Nine... yeah) and Michael Jai White (live action Spawn and The Dark Knight's Gambol) as Sonya Blade and Jax. Stryker and Kano show up as well in this episode.
The Black Dragon are shipping cybernetics and some allusions are made about the Lin Kuei and Kano's fate (he has no face plate as of yet). Sonya is captured by Kano. Jax and Stryker go in to rescue her and take the Black Dragon down.
Despite the poor resolution of the video (hopefully the whole series is release on DVD/Blu Ray) the episode was pretty good for a web series. The gun fights were well done, but the gore was a little lacking (compared to Rebirth). It was definately R rated material, but reguardless everything was well played.
The fighting was pretty good, but I expect it to get better as the series progresses. There were instances where Jax was using his gun fight as a close range weapon, which was interesting. The new guy playing Kano (Darren Shahlavi ) was alright, but the first MK movie's Kano still reigns supreme.
I'm not giving this series a score until either it's released in it's entirety or on Blu Ray. So I'll just leave it at, MK Legacy is pretty good, and it's free so check it out.
